Hi Fun Friend,

Do you ever think about how good it would feel to just let it all go? Life’s responsibilities, the long to-do lists, the stuck places you might find yourself in—and just let all that packed-in feeling out? And you do.  And then it feels like bliss! Or you don’t, and you start to feel life getting heavier each day you keep carrying all the load?

I have been thinking a lot about how important and fun it is to just let it all go.

Release your inner hee-bee-jee-bees (that has got to be a word, right?), have your system just let it all out, release whatever needs to be released and just go for it. I have been watching my 2-year-old grandson be a master of that. He gets outside and just rips around the yard in continuous circles, screaming dinosaur sounds at the top of his lungs. After about 10 laps, he collapses on the grass in a solo, hysterical giggling fit all by himself.

This little dude is having fun just letting it all go.

I recently went to a rock concert to see one of my all-time fave bands, AC/DC. Heard of these guys? Well, at 70-something, they are still having fun letting it all go. I lucked out and got the tickets I wanted right in the pit (yes!), standing and dancing room only, with my cheek pressed almost to the stage. I could see and feel right down to my core how Angus was having fun letting it all go in his famous, minutes-long guitar solos. Or how the singer, Brian Johnson, was laughing the entire time, bouncing around the stage in his black jeans, belting out his lyrics to Back in Black.

These older dudes sure know how to have fun just letting it all go.

But what about everyone in between?

Are you having fun just letting it all go? Or don’t you even know where to start? If you are in the “I don’t even know where to start” camp, this is for you:

3 Things to Try
When You Need to LET IT ALL GO

1. Make some noise. Find somewhere you can be loud and let it out. Scream into a pillow, roll down all the windows, crank your favourite tune and sing ridiculously loudly in the car, or go to your back deck and make owl noises (no one will even know it is you, trust me). Your nervous system doesn’t always need another deep breath. Sometimes it needs a good WOOOOOO!

2. Do something completely pointless. Blow bubbles. Draw something ridiculous. Run through sprinklers (I hope you pick this one!). Play like a kid for 15 minutes. Not everything you do needs to be productive, useful or have a purpose.

3. Have a “heck yes” moment. Do something that makes you feel alive—crank the tunes and dance on your deck, jump in the ocean (you knew I was going to say clothing optional), hop in the car with no map and just go on a blind road trip. Ask yourself: “What would feel really good right now?”
“Letting it all go” is about giving ourselves permission to release the constant pressure of holding everything together.

Fun gives us a different way to shift our state. It’s one of the ways we reconnect with energy, joy and ourselves. It is good for our wellness, our Fun Health. My grandson isn’t waiting until he’s finished his to-do list to run around the yard making dinosaur noises. He’s doing it because it feels good.

My Fun Friend, we could all use a little more of those fun feel-good vibes.

❤️ Yours in fun spirit, Treena x 💛
