I didn’t realize how coffee meet ups were such a fabric of my life.  And not just any coffee meet ups. I am talking coffee meet ups with strangers.  Strangers who you have reached out to, or vice versa they reached out to you, as you have something potentially in common and of value to life share with each other.  The anticipation that the something to share could be big, holding possibilities.  Or if not big, at least it makes your life a moment richer.
I missed the preliminaries of describing yourself to someone you don’t know, so they know how to find you at the coffee shop. The first physical connection of a handshake. The observing of the coffee order to try to get a glimpse into the personality. Then on to the point – the conversation, the questions and the understanding. Discovering the possibilities!
I know this is not everyone’s jam to call rando strangers and go for coffee to share possibilities. But if there is someway to push, pull, prod and convince yourself to make this coffee meet up move, it truly is like no other.
Recently, I met with a young woman over our first cup of java together, to learn more about a thriving Mom community she has built to provide a way of connecting, learning and having experiences of fun. I felt like I had met my long, lost sister. We spoke the same language, had the same spark, shared similar values and the same drive. We even brought our server into our conversation to add more possibilities to the pile!
The handshake then turned big ole happy hug, and I know we will have many possibilities together well into the future, to do great things. This is the life good stuff, right here.
Coffee meet up come back? They sure are for me. Are they for you?
